Tupelo Here We Come...
OK! It's official! We're going to Memphis via Tupelo! I made the room reservation today! Once we get to Tupelo we're meeting a couple of friends and driving to Tupelo to visit the birthplace of our favorite guy!! I haven't been there since the 80's so it's almost gonna be like my first time with all the changes that have occurred! I'm taking my Jerry Hopkins book (did this when I was 14). It tells of all the people and places to visit. The first time we went we looked up some people that knew Elvis as a kid - which made the trip really special! It was my mom, my grandmother and my 2 sisters. We met Gladys' best friend Faye Harris. She invited us in and we sat there and drank iced tea and she told us Elvis stories! She was a real sweetheart! Her and my grandmother hit it off and they corresponded by mail for several years! I'm not sure what happened to those letters but I sure would like to find one. I'll see if I can find her picture and get it posted here before I go to Memphis!

People like Dave The Rave....
Well, I'm getting more excited as each day passes!!! I found out today that my girlfriend, Tatiana, the one I met at the last Elvis concert on 12/12/76 is going to meet me there! She lives in Sacramento and we have kept in touch off and on throughout the years!! Thanks to MySpace we found each other again after about 1 1/2 years. We met in Ft. Worth last November at the Nascar race - it was soooo good to see her again.
Anyway, we haven't been to Graceland since December, 1977 so we've got a lot of catching up to do! She's never seen the concert so she's in for a treat!
We shall have fun! Daily postings to this thread to happen. We've got to keep people like Dave The Rave, HelBrown, Pee-Wee and everyone else who won't make it this year!! You guys can be a part of this EW right here! Please jump in and post stories, pictures or just whatever you feel like posting!

Welcome
Welcome to my Elvis Blogspot!! I guess you're probably wondering what this about so let me explain!
Having been an Elvis fan my entire life he has always been a big part of my life. I first started going to Memphis around 1973-74 with my mom and various other people in my family. When he died, my mom and I went to Memphis as well. On the first anniversary of his death we went again. The vigil that everyone knows about now was started on that first anniversary with just a hand full of fans with candles. Over the years it has grown to become the "main" reason everyone goes to Memphis in August. Can you just imagine what that has been like to remember a hand full of fans with candles to crowds up to 40,000 on the 25th anniversary!! Mind blower is what it is.
I was 18 when he died and 30 years later, well, you guessed it I'm 48!! This is going to be my last Elvis Week "just because". No particular reason to give it up other than it's time!
I wanted to start this blog to document my last Elvis Week and to let my friends who can not be there keep up with the daily happenings of the week. It's going to be the biggest ever and will in deed be the most memorable for me! I'm taking my mother with me just because she was there on my first trip to Memphis (of course she was I couldn't even drive then) and felt it was only right she be there on my last.
So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the 30th Elvis Week in Memphis!!
I'm hoping others will join in and post stories of their previous trips to Elvis Week, concerts they saw, any Elvis memory you have, for others to enjoy! Pictures are welcome too!
